The Continuing Downward Spiral of Sarah - Definitions

Some might ask how it can be discerned that The Corpse was a sociopath and Sarah was prostituting herself. In regards to Sarah, that is a long backstory that was told in Play Me False, but it can be simplified for the uninitiated.
First, one must grasp what Sarah’s criteria for romantic relationships consisted in, and there were only two criteria: that he be somewhat related to her circle of high school friends and that he have money. The first criterium had already led her down the wrong road at least twice, but she did not learn. The second criterium makes the accusation clear. The reality was that, in US culture, women prostituting themselves to men for money was the rule, not the exception. It wasn’t a matter of streetwalking or having a “manager.” It was a vestigial circumstance of history that had yet to be eradicated. A majority of women, if not most, chose men based upon what they had, not who they were, and that consideration, in a still patriarchy-dominated society, was still prominent. And it was Sarah’s entire modus operandi.
She had absolutely nothing in common with The Corpse. She didn’t like law enforcement, as she was a scofflaw herself. She didn’t like his music, although she would pretend to because being submissive was part and parcel of winning the money. He clearly wasn’t into animals in any meaningful way. It was unlikely he cared about anything she cared about. On a physical attractiveness level, they were a total and utter mismatch. In short, she had no reason to be with him that wasn’t ulterior. That was compounded by the age gap that, while at other points in life might not have been that serious, given The Corpse’s advanced age, it was problematic to say the least. So, yes, Sarah, like many women, was prostituting herself for money and status without a doubt. The real issue with that was her inability to recognize or to accept that she was doing it. The self-delusion was massive. If she had been honest with herself, she could have chosen someone who met the same criteria who wouldn’t likely be dead in under 10 years, statistically speaking, and he was on the verge of massive deterioration as it was. No, Sarah did not possess the cunning to be thinking ahead to wills. This was pure, unthinking delusion and convenience. She had tricked herself into thinking she had real feelings for him, likely a result of his manipulation and incessant attention. To The Corpse, Sarah was a naive, easily-manipulated, little girl…and she gave him every reason to keep believing that.
Second, one must be able to spot the signs of sociopathy. Sarah had already repeatedly proven that she couldn’t spot a narcissist, and she may have been a victim narcissist herself. The Corpse openly exhibited numerous signs, even if one didn’t know him: control issues, a need for dominance, using people, deceptive tendencies, persuasion, superficial charm, manipulation, opportunism, broken moral compass, and emotional detachment. If he were also a social deviant in private, it would not be surprising. The Corpse had exhibited half of these traits by leading Sarah into a false narrative he then got her to repeat to the authorities in an attempt to frame Bob for things that weren’t true, and Sarah knew they weren’t true. He then used that authority to manipulate her into a relationship with him. In addition, his chosen profession met the rest and both a dislike of rules and a need for power simultaneously. And, if that weren’t enough evidence, Sarah only chose emotionally detached men, because she confused it with maturity. Would Sarah even notice that he became irritable if she did not meet his expectations? Unlikely. It was only a matter of time before he was in her phone and social media…keeping tabs. It was what he did. He may even ask her for her passwords, likely on some pretense, but a blatant sign nonetheless.
In reality, Sarah exhibited half these traits herself, but the admixture with The Corpse was a formula for future disaster and unhappiness…and Bob hoped she would find exactly that…and be stuck with it. People that shallow had earned their emptiness.
The Continuing Downward Spiral of Sarah - In Her Head
What Sarah didn’t know was what Bob knew. Bob knew that every time Sarah watched football, she would think of him. Every time Sarah thought of donations she would think of him. Every New Year should would think of him. Every birthday she would think of him. Every Valentine’s she would think of him. Every time she saw T…
